Meet Fabio

Fabio Rasera moved from Italy to Denmark in late 2021 to pursue a master's degree in mechanical engineering at DTU. While writing his thesis, he joined IRON Pump as a student assistant. What began as a study-related position evolved into a full-time R&D role, where he works on construction, design, and testing.

As the first international employee, Fabio entered a company with Danish roots and a global market orientation. Since his arrival, the number of internationals has expanded, reflecting a strong focus on internationalization.

Early in his tenure, Fabio worked across departments, building a strong understanding of how the company functions.

“Working in different areas has helped me see how decisions in one department affect everything else. This makes it possible to understand through hands-on experience how the decision-making is connected and how everyone works toward the same goal”, Fabio says.

A defining part of his role today is supporting IRON Pump’s expansion in China. When the company established a production facility alongside its existing sales office in Shanghai, Fabio became closely involved in the setup and operations of the new site.

This activity requires him to regularly travel to China to support training, assembly, and testing, ensuring that products meet the required high-quality standards.

“It has been extremely interesting and challenging contributing to the launch of an independent testing laboratory that meets the requirements and operating procedures of the mother company, especially because it is located in China. Particularly at the beginning, this made operations more complex, mainly due to the language barrier, but thanks to the close collaboration and great connections I managed to establish with the local team, we reached a level of cooperation that has already allowed us to achieve several goals”, Fabio explains.

His work in China has also broadened his view of the company and strengthened his internal network. Supporting overseas production requires collaboration across departments, from workshops and testing areas to logistics, planning and production.

“This international experience allows me to learn something new every day, both about our products and about company procedures and decision-making processes. Working in collaboration with all departments also allows you to quickly develop communication and organizational skills, which are extremely valuable for my professional growth”, Fabio says.

For Fabio, IRON Pump’s size is ideal for operating locally and internationally, while offering visibility across functions and short decision paths.

“The flat structure here means that there is room for dialogue and opportunities. I have learned a lot, and I still feel there is much room to grow. There is always something new to understand which makes it very exciting to be here,” Fabio says.

For him, working at IRON Pump means collaborating across countries, disciplines, and cultures to drive international success and personal development. Cross-border cooperation and continuous growth are integral to the work environment.

“At IRON Pump, you really feel welcome. There is a lot of knowledge sharing, and that creates strong professional relationships across the company,”

Alongside professional growth, Fabio values the flexibility offered by the company and the possibility of working remotely as needed.

“The flexibility I have at IRON Pump makes it possible to balance work and personal life across countries. Being able to manage my schedule and work from Italy, when necessary, makes a real difference for me”, Fabio concludes.

At IRON Pump, I really feel part of a culture built on trust, cooperation and teamwork. Since I joined, I´ve had the chance to learn and grow, taking on new challenges that helped me strengthen my skills and experience. I´m always supported by colleagues who are willing to share knowledge and help each other, and it´s both motivating and rewarding to see how my work can make a real impact on the products we deliver”, Fabio Rasera, R&D Mechanical Engineer at IRON Pump.
