Before joining IRON Pump, I explored many different paths, from starting my own film production company to studying multimedia design. But I realized what truly motivated me was the commercial side of business, especially sales, and the chance to work in an international company.

That’s why IRON Pump felt like the perfect match when I saw their vacant trainee position. I believed this could be a valuable experience, joining an international company with a renowned reputation within the industry.

One of my favorite aspects of working at IRON Pump is the opportunity to engage with people from diverse cultures about their work and sales techniques. It's a privilege to connect with individuals from around the globe every day. This experience broadens my perspective, reminding me that I'm part of a much larger world rather than just a small, familiar setting. It's inspiring to see how people utilize their skills in various ways.

As a trainee, I’m not just learning sales, I’m gaining a deep understanding of how a global company in the maritime industry operates. From procurement and logistics to shipping and after sales, I’ve had the chance to see how all the pieces connect. And that perspective makes me a stronger salesperson and a more confident professional.

People here are very helpful and excel at involving everyone in their work. We function like one cohesive large unit, with all the parts interconnected. Each department must work together, which has allowed me, as a trainee, to gain valuable insights into how the organization operates.

I've learned about the purchasing process and where the products I sell are sourced. I’ve also gained insights from the shipping department, understanding where the products end up and how they get there. It’s fascinating because this knowledge enhances my understanding of the entire company and its different departments. This holistic view ultimately boosts my ability to sell. I now have a clearer understanding of the industry I am involved in and know precisely what I am selling and what needs I am addressing. It’s impressive how we operate as one cohesive body.

What has surprised me most is just how big the maritime industry is. Through my work at IRON Pump, I’ve seen how pumps are essential to so many systems, from cooling engines and moving ballast water to firefighting and industrial processes on land. It’s a sector that literally keeps the world moving.

To me, international outreach is priceless. It’s rare to find a traineeship where you can learn about an international business, act on a global stage and obtain technical craftsmanship at the same time.
