RUMOUR HAS IT...

...that the Danish King Frederik IX would not accept his coffee being spilt when onboard the Great Belt ferry M/F “KONG FREDERIK IX”. The ferry, which was built in 1953, was designed with off-centre railway tracks and it was essential to keep the ship from listing. To ensure alignment between the tracks on the ramp fixed on land and the tracks on the ship’s deck, IRON Pump was asked to develop a new type of pump. The R&D work resulted in our Anti-heeling pump model QT, which design has proven to be resilient and reliable. As of today, we have set more than 3000 QT’s into operation on, among others:

  • Ferries
  • Ro-Ro’s
  • Cruise ships,
  • Container ships
  • Heavy lifters
